The Cisco ASR 9000 is a perfect complement to the Cisco CSR-1, Cisco 7600 and the XR12000 Series routers offering the same IP over DWDM capabilities. In addition, the Cisco ASR 9010 and ASR 9006 ASR’s are designed with modular power supplies that are brought online only when capacity is increased, therefore requiring less power consumption.

Due to the explosive growth of the internet and internet-applications, service providers are constantly looking at ways to amplify the scale and scope of bandwidth provisioned through their networks. The Cisco 7600 Series router, designed for deployment at the network edge for service provider and enterprise customers, is the perfect solution for high-speed WAN aggregation, supporting BGP4, IS-IS, and OSPF, as well as QoS and security. The Cisco 7600 routers provide WAN connectivity from DS0 through OC-48c/STM-16c as well as LAN interfaces from 10Mbps Ethernet to GigE.
The Cisco 7600 Series comes in several options including the Cisco 7603, offering 3 horizontal slots and supporting bandwidth up to 32 Gbps, the Cisco 7606 chassis contains 6 horizontal slots and is a substantial increase in bandwidth with 160 Gbps, and the Cisco 7609 with 9 vertical slots, providing 30 Mpps of switching performance and supports bandwidth of up to 256 Gbps. Depending on the optical service modules (OSM's) or FlexWAN port adapters used, the Cisco 7600 allows for connectivity from DS0 to OC-48.
The ability of service providers to support a wide range of revenue-generating services using a single standardize platform is a substantial benefit from previous alternatives. The Cisco 7600 series can utilize the FlexWan modules from the Cisco 6000 Series to support low-speed traffic, while also allowing for high-speed optical connectivity with the various OSM options available.
