NetIron800
ServerIronXL
Foundry
Networks' ServerIron Family of Internet traffic
and content management switches provide high performance
Layer 2 through 7 switching, enabling network managers to control and manage today's
exploding web transaction, web application and
eCommerce traffic flows.
ServerIronXL/TCS
is exclusively optimized for content aware Transparent
Cache Switching (TCS) and is targeted to remove
price/performance barriers to the mass deployment
of content aware cache switches. ServerIronXL/TCS
includes the following content switching features:
- Intelligent
load balancing of caches to eliminate content
duplication, increase cache-hit ratio, and improve
the Internet response time
- Accelerate
delivery of dynamic content and optimize the
cache utilization by bypassing the caches automatically
for dynamic content
- Specify
content based rules to determine what content
should be cached
- Organize
caches into logical groups that serve different
content to provide differentiated service offerings
to content providers
All
ServerIron switches include Internet Ironware,
a comprehensive suite of software for the ServerIron
family of switches, with support for the following
applications:
- Server
Load Balancing
- Transparent
Cache Switching
- Firewall
Load Balancing
- Global
Server Load Balancing
- Extended
Layer 4-7 functionality including URL-, Cookie-,
and SSL Session ID-based switching
- Secure
Network Address Translation (NAT) and Port address
translation (PAT)
TurboIron/8
Layer 3 Switch
A stackable switching router that offers all Gigabit
Ethernet backbone routing. Provides 8 ports of
Gigabit Ethernet (fiber). Can be field upgraded
to provide Layer 4-7 switching that improves the
availability, performance, and scalability of
Internet services such as content publishing,
web hosting, and e-commerce. Provides an extensive
suite of load balancing and transparent cache
switching features.
Local
area networking is primed for a major expansion
of performance, bandwidth and scaleability. The
applications for this improved connectivity already
exist, and the LAN technologies that will deliver
it have appeared. Network planners in fact now
face the prospect of a choice for their high-capacity
LANs: Gigabit Ethernet and ATM.
Gigabit
Ethernet is a 1,000 Mbps extension of the same
Ethernet technology that users have worked with
for years. From shared Ethernet to 10 Mbps switched
and 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet, there is an enormous
installed base of Ethernet drivers, adapters,
and switches that Gigabit Ethernet perfectly fits
as a backbone core.
Five
years ago a gigabit-per-second LAN would seem
extravagant, but today it's a sound investment.
It's a basic requirement, actually - whether 622
Mbps ATM or 1,000 Mbps Ethernet, faster backbones
have to be built to satisfy faster networks. Several
factors today have converged to demand ever-increasing
bandwidth across growing LANs.
NetIron800 This Internet Core Router provides
unparalleled switching capacity, scalability,
control, and functionality. With interfaces ranging
from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps, NetIron 800 is designed
to meet the expanding bandwidth and control requirements
faced by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) today.
Foundry's key differentiators include reliability,
switching capacity, Internet and LAN integration,
compactness, long haul links (up to 150 kilometers),
and the industry leading price/performance returns.

Delivering
up to 256 Gbps of superior backplane switching
capacity, Foundry Networks' NetIron800 8-slot
(BNI800) modular chassis eliminates performance
bottlenecks with wire-speed IP routing. The NetIron
800 and is aimed specifically at satisfying the
exploding bandwidth requirements encountered by
growth oriented ISPs. Based on Foundry's unique
IronCore™ architecture and IronWare ™ software
platform, NetIron 800 delivers up to 90,000,000
packets per second per chassis for reliable packet
delivery even under the heaviest of Internet traffic
loads.
