When Jason Loomis, IT Manager of Mellon Capital Management began planning to relocate Mellon's data center, he also planned to upgrade Mellon's Cisco equipment with advanced IOS features.
Obviously, Jason needed a test environment to ensure those advanced features worked properly, however, he had no desire to buy all the necessary Cisco equipment.
Jason's solution: Rent Cisco Equipment
Over the past five years, it appears renting Cisco equipment has become a viable solution for enterprise IT managers.
To meet the growing demand of enterprise users who seek Cisco rental solutions, a small cottage industry has grown-up among refurbished Cisco dealers.
Digital Warehouse, based in New York City was able to configure a Cisco rental solution for Mellon Capital that allowed Mellon to create an environment to test the new Cisco IOS features that they were interested in, while simultaneously working out any issues before Mellon's actual data center move. "For us, renting turned out to be the perfect solution." said Mellon's IT Manager, Jason Loomis.
Email Kenneth LiuKenneth Liu, Sales Manager for rental & leasing programs at Digital Warehouse, confirmed the importance of Cisco dealers providing Cisco rental solutions for clients.
"We see all types of customers looking to rent Cisco equipment, from Fortune 500 companies, to individuals studying for their CCNA or CCIE.", said Liu. "We have been able to create programs to meet all their Cisco equipment requirements."
